Derek V. Abreu, B.A. (Hons.), J.D.
Derek Abreu joined Preszler Injury Lawyers in March 2020, and practices as Counsel to the firm. He is a strong and fearless advocate in the courtroom, who has almost 20 years of experience handling complex personal injury litigation, including catastrophic/brain injury claims, multi-party disputes, and fatalities. As counsel in over 40 reported decisions, Derek has represented his clients successfully in jury and non-jury trials, motions, applications and appeals. He understands that when people suffer injuries, they are best served by someone who can help them navigate the complexities and frustrations that are often associated with litigation. Derek strives to be that lawyer whom his clients can count on.
Derek was raised in Toronto, Ontario, and went to the University of Toronto (Trinity College) for his undergraduate degree, obtaining an Hons. B.A. in Philosophy in 1997. He then attended the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, and obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2000. He has since decided to extend his roots across the country and currently practices in British Columbia, in addition to Ontario.
